As a Mom myself, I know first hand how busy life is in the first couple (or more!) weeks after having your newborn. The thought of leaving the bed (never mind the house!) can feel quite daunting. A trip to my studio to freeze that newness feeling will be completely worthwhile.
Capturing this precious moment can’t wait, our babies are changing and growing all the time. You can relax knowing the most special time in your baby’s legacy is captured.
Newborn portraits are best when baby is between the 5th and 14th day of their life. This is because at this time babies are still very sleepy and have that womb-like behaviour, allowing for those incredible squishy, sleepy newborn images to be captured before they learn to stretch out too much. Although newborn photos can be taken at any time, after the 14 day window they may lose some of their flexibility and don’t always sleep as deeply.
A newborn photography sessions are best booked after you’ve had your 20 week scan with the session to take place when your new arrival is between 4 and 14 days old. As we know, babies like to keep us on our toes and often don’t arrive on their due date which is why we confirm the actual date of the session once your newborn baby has arrived. Sessions include props and outfits for your newborn. You are more than welcome to use my dresses for the parents photos if you wish. If you would like to include professional hair and make up with your session, please get in touch.
Baby’s safety is THE most important thing – the main reason why I am fully trained in newborn photography and posing. I will never attempt a pose that your baby isn’t happy with.
My home studio is kept nice and warm – about 26-28 degrees – so that baby (and you!) will be comfortable and safe during the session. All my props, blankets, outfits and backdrops are cleaned thoroughly after each session.
How long is a newborn photoshoot?
The length of the session will really depend on your baby, but I say to allow 3 hours.
I usually start my newborn sessions at 10am so our session is never rushed. Your baby will be completely in charge of our session. Each day is a different for them so feeding day to day can vary which is why I let your baby take the lead. If they want to feed, they feed.
Can my partner and children be involved in my newborn photoshoot?
Absolutely!
The arrival of a new little person is such a special time for the whole family so I always encourage parents and sibling portraits too. It’s a great way to capture your growing family in a professional style as well as helping any older siblings to be involved in the arrival of their new baby brother/sister.
I usually suggest bringing siblings at the end of the photoshoot as it can be a long, hot wait for them.

What happens after my newborn photoshoot?
You will be invited back to the studio to view your images around 2-3 weeks after your newborn photoshoot. Your gallery will consist of approximately 20 fully edited, high resolution images for you to choose from. Once you have seen your gallery you may make your choice. I do have a minimum spend of £299.
It is at the gallery viewing where all digital and wall art orders are placed.
